“One of the strengths of the study is that the information collected is based on personal exposure data”

We already have the first filters of the BiSC cohort!

In this image, we can see the different tones that have air quality in Barcelona.

Filters of different participants that collect particles in suspension of less than 2.5 microns

Thanks to the collaboration of pregnant women who carry a backpack with different instruments for 48 hours, we can measure personal exposure to the air pollution of each participant. The filters correspond to 48 hours of personal sampling of each volunteer and collect particles in suspension (PM2.5) of less than 2.5 microns. Later, the gravimetry and the composition of each filter are analyzed, and it is correlated with other data collected, both from the mother and from environmental factors.

“One of the strengths of the study is that the information collected is based on personal exposure data (inhaled dose) and allow an assessment to be made to the individual exposure to the atmospheric pollution of our city.”
