Protocols and questionnaires
Prenatal follow-up
12-month follow-up
BiSC Enrolment
The purpose of this SOP is to describe different aspects of the enrolment of BISC participants, encompassing the methods to promote the study, the way to approach potential participants, the inclusion and exclusion criteria, obtaining informed consent, and assigning the cohort ID to the participants.
SOP General questionnaires
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedure of filling the questionnaires performed during the 1st trimester of pregnancy. The questionnaires encompasses four main topics: sociodemographic characteristics, environmental exposures, and lifestyle and home characterization.
SOP Medical and Obstetrical questionnaire
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedure of filling in the medical and obstetrical questionnaire (i.e. current and past medical and obstetrical conditions and medication) in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Questionnaire: sociodemographic data
Questionnaire: medical history
Questionnaire: exposure and lifestyle
20-week follow-up
SOP General questionnaires
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedure of filling the questionnaires performed during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. The questionnaires encompasses two main topics: mental health (SCL90-r) and food frecuency.
SOP Medical and Obstetrical questionnaire
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedure of filling in the medical and obstetrical questionnaire (i.e. current medical and obstetrical conditions and medication) in the second trimester of pregnancy.
Food frequency questionnaire
This part of the survey is to find out the diet that the mother has followed in the last few months since she was pregnant. With this we try to find out the role that diet can play in relation to the development of her pregnancy and her future child.
32-week follow-up
SOP General questionnaires
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedure of filling the questionnaires performed during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. The questionnaires encompasses five main topics: sociodemographic characteristics, stress, environmental exposures, lifestyle and home characterization.
SOP Medical and Obstetrical questionnaire
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedure of filling in the medical and obstetrical questionnaire (i.e. current medical and obstetrical conditions and medication) in the third trimester of pregnancy.
General questionnaire
Questionnaire for field workers: exposure to heat
Postnatal follow-up
2-month follow-up
General follow-up questionnaire
This protocol will be applied around 2 months (8 weeks) after birth. It includes a short questionnaire to assess postpartum depression and some short questions about breastfeeding and child illnesses during the first two months of life.
6-month follow-up
General follow-up questionnaire: Part 1
With PART 1 of the questionnaire we will ask you a series of questions about breastfeeding, child health, and other information related to changes that may have occurred in the home.
General follow-up questionnaire: Part 2
In PART 2 we will ask you for information about your child’s sleeping habits and behavior.
12-month follow-up
General follow-up questionnaire
With the 12-month follow-up questionnaire we will ask you a series of questions about maternal health, lactation and baby’s health.
18-month follow-up
Monitoring protocol
A birth cohort study conducted in the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area to study the effect of pre and postnatal exposure to environmental exposures, particularly air pollution, on fetal growth and on pre- and post-natal development, particularly brain development.
General follow-up questionnaire
With the 18-month follow-up questionnaire we will ask you a series of questions about maternal health, lactation and the health of your child.
Neuro follow-up questionnaire
In this questionnaire we want to ask you a series of questions that will help us assess the neurodevelopment of your child at the age of 18 months.
Special 24-month follow-up (EEG)
Monitoring protocol
At the 24-month follow-up, we will perform an EEG study to investigate the effect of prenatal and postnatal environmental exposures, particularly air pollution, on cognitive control function.
General follow-up questionnaire
The following questionnaire asks questions about your attitudes towards music.
28-month follow-up
Monitoring protocol
The specific objectives are: to continue with the evaluation of the health of the children of the BiSC birth cohort, focusing on the development of the nervous and respiratory systems; Prospectively test the relationship between various prenatal and postnatal exposure outcomes and infant health, with a particular emphasis on neurodevelopment.
General follow-up questionnaire
With the 28-month follow-up questionnaire we will ask you a series of questions about maternal health, lactation and the health of your child.
48-month follow-up
Monitoring protocol
With the present protocol, the aim is to continue the evaluation of the health of these children at the age of 48 months. The follow-up has been financed with a La Marató (TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio) grant, and the overall aim is to holistically evaluate the psychosocial, environmental and genetic determinants in the occurrence and evolution of neurobehavioral and emotional problems (NBEPs) in the first four years of life, when NBEPs phenotypes start to be detectable in the pediatric population. In addition, we will evaluate the mediation role of the fetal growth and placental function and of the fetal and baby’s brain structural and functional development in the associations explored.
General follow-up questionnaires
With the 48-month follow-up questionnaire, the aim is to to assess structural and organizational properties of families and the patterns of transactions among family members.
Other documents
Monitoring protocol from pregnancy to 18 months of age of the child
Towards the main objective, the project seeks: 1) Establish a new urban pregnancy-birth cohort; 2) Measure pre- and postnatal exposomes; 3) Measure fetal and infant growth and development, including several health domains: fetal and infant growth, neurodevelopment, and respiratory outcomes; 4) To prospectively assess the relationship between various prenatal and postnatal exposures and fetal and infant growth and development and health outcomes; 5) Investigate the molecular mechanisms linking the exposome to fetal and infant growth and development and health outcomes; 6) Evaluate the genetic variation of mother-father-son trios.
Initial questionnaire Covid-19
The COVID-19 pandemic is causing a global health emergency. And it is extremely important to face the scientific and research challenges derived from this health emergency. For this reason, we believe it appropriate to study how this situation may be affecting the volunteer women of the BISC study, women who are currently pregnant or with a baby under one year of age. Specifically, we want to study the effect of isolation due to the pandemic on maternal mental health.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Model for neonates.
The purpose of this document is to request and obtain your express written authorization to perform a brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Protocol
The purpose of this SOP is to describe the procedures to be followed when performing the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) study in the postnatal period. It describes the image acquisition technique and the aspects of the procedure in relation to the participants and the new-borns.
